CRAIG YENKE
Inspired by the past, Craig Yenke's folk art evokes a bygone era, when the
quality of craftsmanship was the most important thing. Craig stresses
the importance of collectors knowing his work is "fashioned 100 percent
with my two hands-start to finish." Craig doesn't use any molds or
pre-made pieces. "Handmade is the most important aspect to me," he
notes; "I want every piece to be completely original and unique,
displaying its very own character and realism."
Craig's love of animals becomes evident, and it takes up to twenty individual steps to complete just one piece. They are made from papier-mâché, cotton batting, and other uniquely selected materials for the coverings. The results of his work have been referred to as the heirlooms of tomorrow.
